Suffolk’s Ryan Meikle returned to the winners circle on Sunday afternoon in Wigan as he claimed his first PDC Unicorn Development Tour title of 2018.
Meikle, who won his tour card back in January, produced some superb displays to win PDC Development Tour 11 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan.
In the final, Meikle averaged 89 in a 5-3 victory over Austria’s Rowby-John Rodriguez. Arguably, Meikle’s performance of the day came in his Semi-Final encounter with Ted Evetts as he made light work of the 20-year old from Warwickshire in a 5-0 victory for Meikle whilst averaging 96.3.
Prior to that, Meikle enjoyed successes over Tadhg Carroll (4-2), George Killington (4-0) with a 97 average. He then seen off Matthew Holbrook 4-0 in the last 32, Rhys Griffin (4-1) in the last 16, before a closely contested 5-4 win over Rusty-Jake Rodriguez.
Meikle will be looking to take that form into next weekend in Wigan as the Players Championship series resumes.
